Modern Family reunion sparks Ty Burrell rumour

A strange detail at a Modern Family cast reunion has led fans to mistakenly believe that Ty Burrell had passed away, causing panic among fans.

The gathering, the first since the show’s conclusion in 2020, was shared by Sofia Vergara, 51, with heartfelt posts on Instagram.

“First Modern Family reunion!!!!” she wrote, alongside heart emojis.

“So lucky to have worked with this people for 11 years️. I love and miss u all guys!!! #modernfamily.”

However, it was former co-star Ariel Winter holding up a framed photo of fellow actor Ty Burrell, famed for his role as Phil Dunphy, that inadvertently sparked concern among fans.

The setting at Vergara’s residence, complete with flowers and candles which resembled a memorial, and Burrell’s the noticeable absence, led some fans to mistakenly believe that Burrell had passed away.

A number of distressed fan admitted to hastily searching online to confirm his wellbeing.

“I had to check Google to make sure he didn’t die,” one fan commented on Instagram, with another writing “THIS MADE ME THINK HE WAS DEAD I PANICKED LMAO”.

Winter quickly addressed these rumours on her own social media account, assuring fans on Instagram that Burrell was very much alive and just missing in action, promising his presence at the next reunion.

“I can see how this looks but Ty is alive and well I PROMISE. He’ll definitely be there for the next one,” she wrote.

Vergara, now a judge on America’s Got Talent, shared moments of the cast reunion, including photos of herself cracking jokes with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, 48, who played Mitchell Pritchett.

Another heartfelt snapshot showed Vergara cozying up to her on-screen husband and son Ed O’Neill, 77, and Rico Rodriguez, 25 who played Jay Pritchett and Manny Delgado in the series.
