Piers Morgan's wife Celia Walden begs TV bosses to give him a job

No one is more looking forward to seeing Piers Morgan back on TV than his wife Celia Walden, who has begged TV bosses to give him a job to get him out of the house.

In an interview with The Sun, Walden opened up about what life has been like now her husband is always home.

The controversial TV host, 56, famously walked out of his role on Good Morning Britain in March, after he refused to apologise for his comments about Meghan Markle, which led to 40,000 complaints to regulator Ofcom.

More than two months on, his wife would like to see him leaving the house to go to work fulltime again especially as he's got some energy back after this downtime.

"Well, I always think of that famous quote, 'Behind every great man, there's a woman rolling her eyes' — I am that woman," she told The Sun.

"Being married to Piers is basically one very long eye roll. But what people don't realise about Piers is that he's usually very quiet at home because he's exhausted himself on whatever interview he's been doing."

"But really, he used to come back and by 9am was absolutely flattened, lying there on the sofa, catatonic, not bothering anyone.

"Unfortunately he's got all his energy back now. Please, someone, just give him a job," she added.

Walden said that is "the only reason" she is sad about him leaving the ITV show, adding: "Well, that and the fact I wake up and there he is, staring back at me morning after morning".

Morgan joked about his wife's interview with The Sun on social media, posting a photo of the paper on Instagram with the caption: "Things are getting desperate."

Piers Morgan has heard from people at ITV asking him about whether he would consider returning to the station, after his controversial departure from "Good Morning Britain" earlier this year.

Morgan told The Sun that ITV had "reached out" about a potential return to work, after he was fired for refusing to apologise for his comments about Meghan Markle.

"They reached out — there have been approaches. Never say never," Morgan told The Sun.

"I have no doubt I could take the ratings back to where I left them — but the doubt is, would anyone be allowed to do it that way again?

"I was hired to give very strong, honestly held opinions, which I did. But in the end I was asked to apologise for a genuinely held opinion," he added, in his first newspaper interview since the scandal.

The 56-year-old TV host was dismissed after lashing out on TV about Meghan's "lies" in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

He has recently revealed that the ITV bosses have made a U-turn and approached him about returning to the station to host the show he left.

"I have had some quite random third-party feelers put out to see if I would consider a return to the show," he said.

"As the Americans say, they reached out — there have been approaches to test the water in the wake of their obvious ratings issues."

Following Morgan's rant on live TV, Good Morning Britain became the most complained about programme in television history — but it was also the most watched episode of the show, overtaking rival BBC Breakfast in ratings for the first time that day.
